Editorial inclusion

Are you missing opportunities that will make your title or series more commercial and find a wider audience?

Editorial inclusion isn't an add on, it's a vital part of the editing process. Something that needs to be considered right from the start, before a project is even greenlit and factored in throughout the process.

Creative & strategic consultancy

Developing a new project?

 â€‹

Have you considered:

  • The opportunities for natural inclusion?

  • Potential pitfalls or missteps?

  • How to ensure authenticity?

Creative editorial inclusion expertise is essential at this stage to ensure wide reach and appeal, and therefore commercial success.

Sessions can be booked as a one-off, in a block, or in a bundle with other services.

Inclusion reviews
& audits

Reviewing titles for inclusion?

Inclusion audits provide essential insight into new and backlist titles:

  • Overall representation

  • Missed opportunities

  • Outdated language

  • Omissions and issues

Providing solutions-focused feedback across all facets of diversity and marked up indicate the urgency and necessity of  changes. An inclusion report summarises the feedback.

For large projects I work with a team of associates to ensure efficient and timely delivery.

Inclusion reads
(AKA a copyedit for inclusion)

Your manuscript is ready for copy-edit. Or is it?

Everything has been thoroughly researched but, even so, can you be sure that:

  • There's nothing problematic in the text or storyline?

  • Stereotypes aren't being reinforced and perpetuated?

  • Nothing has crept in as a result of unconscious bias?

  • There's no ableist or otherwise harmful language?

An inclusion read is not just like a copy edit for inclusion, it's as essential as one.

Editing

Want an editor with a USP?

When you commission me as an editor, you're getting inbuilt inclusion support. Because inclusion isn't something separate, it's just part of what I naturally do.

From editorial management to proofreading, I offer a range of editing services, with an added extra.

"Beth is everything you could ask of an Editorial Manager - and more. She can see a project from many perspectives, which ensures she is thorough, thoughtful and dynamic; she is not afraid to make decisions for the benefit of the product and its audience.

Beth will get involved in every aspect of a project in order to ensure its successful delivery, and I would not hesitate to recommend her!"
